Obituary

Gregory Blaine Keys passed away on April 2, 2021.  He was born on May 1, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan to John and Norma (Essary) Keys.  After graduating from Monroe High School in 1972, Greg attended the University of Michigan graduating from there in 1976.   Greg worked in accounting in Detroit and Alaska and then after earning his CPA, he joined Arthur Andersen, LLP in Toledo, Ohio.  In 1982, Greg married Brenda (Bryson) Keys, was promoted with Arthur Andersen and was transferred to Houston where they made their home and raised two sons.

Greg began a partnership with Dean Lindsey in 1984 in The Woodlands.  In 1990 Greg began studying at South Texas College of Law and graduated in 1994.  He continued to practice accounting along with tax and probate law in his private practice.   Greg valued his clients and became more than just their representative in law and tax matters.   He was a genuine friend to them, especially taking care of those probate clients who needed his patience and concern in their time of need.

Growing up, Greg enjoyed fishing the Great Lakes as well as inland lakes and deer hunting.   He also enjoyed helping his dad with the garden.  These pastimes continued on into his adult life.  He shared his love for fishing and hunting with his two sons and they enjoyed countless trips to his ranch in Carrizo Springs, Texas.   He passed his green thumb on to his sons and grandchildren.   He was an avid fan of Michigan football and basketball and was rarely seen not wearing a Michigan shirt.

Greg believed in community service and spent many hours helping organizations such as the Woodlands Symphony , North Spring Swim Team, Spring ISD FFA, and Spring Tri-Club.  He continued to support Spring ISD even after his sons graduated from high school and worked many hours fundraising to award scholarships to deserving students.

Greg is survived by his wife of 38 years; sons Patrick (Aissa) Keys and  Andrew (Haley) Keys; grandchildren Charlotte, Everly, and Grady; one sister Joan (Gary) Keys Wolfe; one brother John (Pam) Keys, Jr.; nieces Stacee and Coty; and nephew Derek; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by parents.

Visitation for Greg will be Thursday, April 8, from 2-7 p.m. with rosary from 7-8 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main St, Tomball TX 77375.   Funeral services will be Friday, April 9 at 11 am at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Community, 7810 Cypresswood Dr, Spring TX 77379.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Spring Tri-Club Scholarship Fund, PO Box 162, Spring TX 77383.
