Gregory Allen Chappell, 84, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep and went home to be with his Lord just past midnight of June 7, 2018.

Gregory was born on January 15, 1934 in Houston to Sterling Frank Chappell, Jr. and Alice Doratha Chambers Chappell. He was the fourth of five siblings. A few years after graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably in the United States and Portier, France. After being discharged from the military he attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas from 1956-1960. While in Abilene, he met Mary Jane "Janie" Zusman. They married on May 17, 1958. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Business they moved to Houston. He was soon employed with Brawner Paper Co. until his retirement in 1988.

Gregory was a loving husband to his cherished wife Janie for 55 years. He was a wonderful father and grandfather as well. He loved his family dearly.

He maintained his strength of character, humor and love of Christ until the very end. He made an everlasting loving legacy for his family and friends.

Gregory is preceded in death by his wife Janie, his parents Frank and Alice, brothers Frank, III and Robert.

He is survived by his son Gregory, Jr. and wife Caella of Tomball; his daughter Chantell Worzel and husband John of Spring; his grandchildren Gregory, III (Trace) and Tucker Chappell, Erica, Avery and Harrison Worzel; sister Doratha Moore of Cary, North Carolina; his sister Lou Alice Roden and husband Paul of Houston; plus many loving and dear nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Gregory's life on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Christ in Champions 13902 Cutten Rd, Houston, TX 77069.
