Obituary

Grady Charles Laxson, age 94, of Spring, Texas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

Grady was born  in New Mexico to Robert and Gladys Laxson, along with his three brothers, R.L., Roland and Herman.

A child of the depression era, Grady had a great faith in God and a belief in his constant care. He also believed in serving, so, as soon as he was able, Grady joined the Navy to serve as part of the WW II effort. As part of the Naval Armed Guard, he crewed the gunnery installation on merchant marine vessels and saw the world. But, no matter where he went, the southwest, with its "fuzzy" landscape was what he appreciated the most. Once out, he migrated back to Lubbock, Texas where he met his first wife, Anna Lee Croom. After Ann's death, Grady was fortunate to find another wonderful loving wife, Nilene Lottie Pitts.

Grady was dreamer – worm farms, high efficiency rotary engines, and penny stock plans were all going to be a huge success – someday. The someday never came, but he so very much enjoyed the dream of what might be! He also enjoyed being out and doing: playing golf, riding bikes, cheating at dominoes and pulling practical jokes. His joy, silly jokes and interest in so many varied topics will be missed.

Grady is survived by his wife Nilene, daughters Marilee, Kadel and Melanie, son Michael, son-in-law Patrick, daughter-in-law Anna, and his grandchildren, Charles, Shawn, and Caryn. He was preceded in death by his brothers, his first wife, Ann, and one daughter, Toni Kathryn.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the home of Grady and Nilene.
