Grady Lynn Boney, 93, of Tomball, passed away December 28, 2019.  He was born October 20, 1926, in Iola to the late James Elmer Boney and Nealie Currie Boney.

He is survived by his wife, Eloise Laas Boney; daughters, Glenna McRaith and husband Mike, and Gayla Sullivan and husband Dan; grandchildren, Greg McRaith, Steven McRaith, Katie Hensley and husband Tommy, and Maegan Fincher and husband Elliott; and great granddaughters, Marin and Collins Fincher.

Grady Lynn Boney was born in Iola, Texas, located in Grimes County, on Oct. 20, 1926. As a youth he worked as a shoe shine boy in his father's barber shop in Bryan, Texas. Grady had one sibling, a brother, Glenn, who was 6 years older. While Glenn was serving overseas as a 52 ^nd Fighter Squad pilot in World War II, Grady decided he would also enlist in the US military. He began his enlistment in the Army Tank Division in San Antonio. He was then sent to Fort Riley, Kansas, for 17 weeks of lightweight tank training. He also spent time in Milwaukee during his Army service. His brother was killed in World War II when his plane was shot down by enemy fire, and due to the Surviving Son Clause Grady was not deployed overseas. Grady served stateside in the Army for about 1 ½ years until the conclusion of World War II.  During the Korean War Grady enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He served actively in the Marines for a year and a half, and then served in the Marine Reserves based out of Houston for an additional year and a half. Grady worked for Exxon for many years going back to when it was known by the names Esso, Enco, and Humble Oil. Among many other positions he was the Exxon machine and metals shop supervisor. He retired from Exxon and continued to serve as a volunteer "fix-it handyman" for friends, family, neighbors, and church members who had everything from lawnmowers to furniture and lamps in need of a "fix." His garage shop was where he created and repaired metal and wood items as well as doing appliance and electronics repairs.

Grady married Eloise Laas Boney on Nov. 27, 1958, and they have celebrated 61 years of marriage. They have resided in Houston and Tomball throughout their marriage. Grady was a father of two married daughters, a grandpa to 4 grown grandchildren, and a great grandpa to two great granddaughters. A great grandson will arrive in May 2020.
