Grace Jacqueline Schlichting

October 18, 1935 - February 16, 2025

Grace Jacqueline Schlichting (Russo), 89, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 16, 2025. Grace was born in New Orleans on October 18, 1935, to Matteo (Martin) Russo and Carmela Russo.  She raised three wonderful children, Dirk, Nancy, and Deirdre, and worked at Shell Oil with her husband Dirk for many years.

Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is preceded in death by her husband, Hans (Dirk), Sisters Rose and Ann, and daughter Nancy. Grace and Dirk were married for 60 years before his passing in 2017. Grace is survived by her twin brother, Santo, children Dirk (Kay) Schlichting, Deirdre Schlichting and her husband Jason Spets, grandchildren Misty (James) Smejkal, Ryan (Kayla) Schlichting, Dana Schlichting, Cody (Reina) Foster, Scott (Lindsay) Foster, Connor (Lindsay) Foster, Savannah Spets and Landon Spets, as well as six great-grandchildren.

Grace was a servant-hearted woman, a devout Catholic, and enjoyed playing tennis, cooking, and fashion. She attended Loyola University in New Orleans and met her husband Dirk while working in the White House. She loved spending time with family and preparing holiday meals.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 24th, 2025
