Gordon Alexander Russell of Houston, TX went home to his Lord and Savior March 29 ^th , 2020 at the age of 82. Gordon was born on February 8 ^th , 1938. He was the oldest child of Isabel Campbell Russell and Alexander Carle Russell, immigrates to the United States from Glasgow, Scotland. He was the brother of Janet Russell McCulloch, Gordon's parents and sister preceded him in death.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Betty Colleen Russell. They would have been married 62 years on April 11 ^th , 2020. Also, by his children, Patricia (Trish) and husband K.C.  Woller of Gloucester, VA, Michael Russell and wife, Becky Russell of Cypress, TX, and Linda Russell of Cypress, TX. Four grandchildren, Ashley Russell, Emily Woller, Alexandra Woller and Cooper Russell.

Gordon was a member of Champion Forest Baptist, but had moved membership back to Houston's First Baptist Church in recent years, as the progression of his Parkinson's Disease progressed.

Mr. Russell was born and raised in Boston, MA. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and spent 3 years as a control tower operator at the US Naval Air Station, Memphis, TN. Betty was a nursing school student when they first met a Belleview Baptist Church in Memphis. A year later Gordon and Betty were married upon his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Boston. In 1963 Gordon, Betty and their young family moved to Nashville, TN where he went to work for Nashville Composition, one of the largest typesetting plants in the state of TN. Two years later he was promoted to Plant Superintendent. In 1976 Gordon and a friend started their own typesetting company. Two years later they closed business and worked as a Production Manager, Customer Service Rep and salesman for Houston typesetting and printing companies.

In the early 90's Gordon took up counting cards at blackjack as a hobby. In 1997 he witched careers making his hobby his new vocation, he worked as an Advantage Player (AP) until he retired in 2013. Except when he was the recipient of casino counter-measures, Gordon, enjoyed his new career immensely. He co-founded a small card counting team, as additional vulnerable games began appearing on casinos floors, he and his partner branched out into other forms of advantage play to take advantage of these opportunities.

Due to resent pandemic restrictions, a celebration of Gordon's life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Houston National Cemetery. Any memorial contributions could be sent to Houston Area Parkinson's Society at hapsonline.org.
