Gloria Long Walden, beloved wife and mother, went to be with our Lord on June 23, 2023. She was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on July 30, 1950, to the late Norman R. Long and late Shirley Masters Long.

Gloria later followed her younger brother and relocated from Michigan to the Houston, Texas area with her two young children. She loved living in Texas! In her own words, "I might have been born in Michigan, but I got to Texas as soon as I could!". She eventually met Douglas (Doug) Walden and after a month the pair were married on May 10, 1982. When asked about how they met, Doug said, "She was hooked as soon as she found out I worked for an airline". Gloria always replied, "It was his shirt that said, 'Marry Me, Fly for Free' so I took him up on it!".

With two young children of his own, the newlyweds celebrated their honeymoon by taking the combined family of six to Disneyworld to make new memories that are still talked about today. The pair raised their four kids in the Humble, Texas area. Doug's employment with Delta Air Lines later took them to Atlanta, Georgia. Upon his retirement, Doug and Gloria quickly returned to Texas and settled in the Montgomery, Texas area to be near their children and grandchildren. Being surrounded by family was a priority for them both.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Doug, her son Terry Miller and son-in-law Scott Gentry, her daughter, Andrea Miller, her daughter Rhonda Walden, her son Eric Walden and daughter-in-law Trish Walden, her brother Norman C. Long and his wife Sara, her sister Sharon Miruzzi and her husband Mark, and her sister-in-law Sheryl Conn. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchild and loved them with all her heart: Amanda Taylor, Tyler Walden, Christian Visser, Jacob Laird, and CJ de los Santos.

Gloria will be greatly missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in support of The Arc of Greater Houston, a local charity that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. https://www.aogh.org/
