Gloria Nancy Benito was a beautiful, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world and returned to God on April 10, 2023 at age 73.

She was born to parents Miguel and Soledad Moreno on May 23, 1949 in her native Bogota, Colombia. As her parents and sisters began migrating to the United States, Nancy eventually made the move and called Houston home. It's here where she would establish deep roots and truly make her mark. She met the love of her life, her husband Marcelino, in the winter of 1983 at a mutual friend's party. Less than two years later they would marry and begin growing their family.

Nancy erupted in joy when she learned she was pregnant in 1987. She made the decision to leave her career behind to welcome her firstborn, Marcelino Jr., on Mother's Day in 1988. Two years later God gifted her another son, Alejandro. Nancy was an exemplary wife and mother. She was a strong woman who dedicated her entire life to raising two boys into fine young men. Her children were everything to her up until her last breath. They are her shining legacy that lives on today.

At the center of Nancy's life was a commitment to family and faith. She loved her mother and father so much and spent many years caring for them day after day up until their deaths in 1997 and 2017. She was a devout Catholic who placed her trust and love in God despite life's ups and downs until the very end.

In January 2022, God blessed her as a grandmother with the birth of her beloved granddaughter Emma. In the short 14 months she had with her, Emma became her source of constant joy. The beautiful baby girl always made her smile and beam with pride every single day.

Nancy lit up every room she ever walked into with her matching, color coordinated outfits and joyous personality. She loved music and would sing-along to her favorite songs anytime they would play. She loved to dance and enjoyed sipping on frozen margaritas alongside her sisters and friends.

Above all, she was the definition of self-less. Nancy was a loyal friend who constantly put others first before herself no matter the cost. She wore her heart on her sleeve and made an impact on so many people through the power of her example. When her children went off to school, she decided to spend her time volunteering at Bear Creek Assistance Ministries for many years touching the lives of those she helped serve.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 37 years Marcelino, her sons Marcelino Jr. and Alejandro, daughter-in-law Rafaella, granddaughter Emma, sisters Consuelo, Patricia, Katia, Toya, Stella and a large extended family.

She will be forever missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
