Glenn, a great Brother, an amazing Uncle, and exceptional Friend was born December 15, 1949, in Atlanta, GA. His parents, Eugene Anthony Kahanek and Mary Alma (Powell) Kahanek were so proud of him, adding another special person to the family, which included his brother, Gary and his sister, Connie. Then, a couple years later Becky was born, giving Glenn a baby sister.

The Kahanek family moved from Atlanta, GA, to Fort Worth, TX, to Lubbock, TX. and onto Houston, TX.

Even as a little guy of 4 or 5 years old, Glenn loved detail, organization and order. When he was playing with his toys, especially soldiers, trucks and cars, they would be kept in the most meticulous condition. As he set up the battlefields or racetracks, there was always a plan and order of executing his "strategy". Of course, as Becky grew a little older, and as a mischievous little sister, she was his nemesis, disrupting his playing field. As they grew up, it became a game for both, creating a close and fun relationship.

Glenn attended grade school, middle school, high school, and college in Lubbock, TX., and the University of Houston when the family moved to Houston. Anxious to get his career started, he began working for Gulf Oil Company in Houston. With a merger of Gulf and Chevron, Glenn was offered an opportunity with Chevron and moved to Casper, Wyoming. He certainly enjoyed his job, but most of all, absorbed and participated in every outdoor/adventure Wyoming and the surrounding states had to offer. This stirred up a wanderlust and excitement for adventure and travel that filled the rest of his life.

Offered an opportunity with Continental Resources, Glenn moved to Tulsa, Ok, then Enid, OK, and to Harrah, OK, where he retired in 2015. In 2019, Glenn was ready to move to Houston to be closer to family, and especially since his Mom was 100 years old, even better, as she lived to 102.

Now onto some of Glenn's travels….world travels, but not as most of us think about. Imagine hiking (trekking), biking, throughout all 7 continents of the world. Glenn's trips were organized tours of 15-20 people of various nationalities, with the requirement they meet an extremely high standard of physical fitness. As photographer for these fantastic trips, he documented each adventure with National Geographic quality in more than 28 photo albums. We loved Glenn's lively and animated conversations of each trip with his accounting of the adventures/perils, always with a sense of humor. Many of us travelled vicariously with him. Travel is risky or now prohibited in many of the countries he visited, but Glenn was able to make these trips and fulfill his dreams.

Our memories and Love for Glenn, his gracious loving nature, will keep him in our Hearts Forever.
