On March 18, 2025, Glenn Dale Adkins peacefully passed from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family. Though his time with us feels far too short, he lived each day with purpose, humor, and a heart full of kindness.

Born on November 12, 1946, Dale lived a life defined by service—first to his country, then to his family, church, and community. He proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Rangers Artillery Division, leading with courage and integrity. After his time in the military, he transitioned into civilian life, building a successful career as an IT Administrator with The Hartford Insurance Company, where his sharp mind and steady hand made him a trusted colleague until his well-earned retirement.

Retirement, for Dale, wasn't about slowing down—it was about spending more time with the love of his life, Lynda Lee Palmer Adkins. She was his world, his partner in everything, and his greatest joy. Whether traveling together, tackling home projects, or simply enjoying each other's company, there was nowhere he'd rather be than by her side.

Dale was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda, his children, Tammy Markgraf and her husband Matthew, and Jimmy Adkins and his wife Kimberly, and his brother, Darrell Adkins. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley Markgraf, Brandon Markgraf and his wife Jenny, Bryce Markgraf and his fiancée Tiffany, Andrew Adkins and his wife Kate, Nathan Markgraf and his wife Bethany, Kaitlyn Jordan and her husband Caleb, Addison Markgraf and his fiancée Kyleigh, and Victoria Markgraf. His legacy of love continues through his four great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

His faith was a guiding force in his life, and for over 50 years, he was a pillar of Spring Baptist Church—teaching Sunday School, serving as a Deacon, and leading Precept Bible Classes with wisdom, patience, and the occasional well-timed joke.

He loved working around the house, fixing things (or sometimes breaking them first just to fix them better), and enjoying retirement the way he always intended—traveling, laughing, and making sure Lynda always had the best seat next to him.

Dale's life was a testament to faith, love, and loyalty. His kindness, humor, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Dale's life will be held at Spring Baptist Church on Monday March 24 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to the Spring Baptist Church Building Fund or you can honor his memory by spending time with the ones you love, sharing a good laugh, and maybe fixing something around the house—just the way Dale would have done.
