Glenda Faye Tate was born on January 3, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas, and went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2026, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 79.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ryan C. and Lola Faye Dearman of Spring, Texas; her best friend and sister, Shelia Ryan Huber, and her husband, Dick, of Spring, Texas; and her granddaughter, Tara Lee Tate of Whittier, California. She was also preceded in death by her husband’s parents, Ernest Elgin Tate and Margie Estelle “Topsy” Tate, and his sister, Cynthia Rose Tate, all of Many, Louisiana.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Philip Charles Tate of Spring, Texas; her daughter and best friend, Shanna Dionne Swearingen (Jerry) of Spring, Texas; and her sons, Michael Keith Tate (Lisa) of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Philip Shane Tate (Debbie) of New Iberia, Louisiana.

She is also survived by the grandchildren she adored and who lovingly called her Maw Maw: Maegan Dionne Tate of Shiner, Texas; Charles Weston Tate of Spring, Texas; and Delaney Claire Smith (Cody) of Willis, Texas; and her precious great-granddaughters, Paisley Cheyanne Smith, daughter of Delaney and Cody, and Layla Grayce Tate, daughter of Maegan Dionne Tate.

Glenda is also survived by her nieces, Cheryl Darlene Nixon and Kelley Dawn Cotton, both of Crystal Beach, Texas; Tanja April Tate of Miramar Beach, Florida; Tara Holly Nelson (Flynt) of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Ambres Deanne Jagneaux (Lucas) of Many, Louisiana; and her nephew, Jeffery Brian Hooks (Rhonda) of Willis, Texas. She loved them all dearly.

Glenda enjoyed shopping, reading, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, keeping up with what was relevant, fashion, her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. She especially looked forward to the weekly Thursday dinners, when she could hear all about the youngest member of the family, her precious great-granddaughter, Paisley.

Glenda was sassy, classy, elegant, beautiful inside and out, delightful, enduring, loyal, funny, and fierce. She was special and truly one of a kind. Her presence could light up every room she entered.

Glenda was always looking out for others. She was a devoted mother and a welcoming presence to everyone she met. She loved her family dearly and considered her friends, as well as her family’s friends, to be part of her family. She had a way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and included.

She is already deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and by those who were blessed to be loved by her.
