Gladys Rita Rushing (Gay), age 71, longtime resident of Houston, Tx, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021.

Gay is originally from Baton Rouge, La. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph, her mother Rose Marie, her brother, Carl and her sister Cynthia. Survivors include her stepmother, Bobbie M. Rushing, brothers, Wayne Joseph Rushing and wife Nancy, Jamison Patrick Rushing and wife Ann, Jonathan Paul Rushing and wife Donna, Daryl Roy Rushing and wife Debra, Wesley Upshaw and wife Jenna, her sisters, Trudy Lawson, Susan Curry and fiancé Danny Porterfield, Sharyl Rushing, DVM, numerous nieces and nephews and mentor and friend, Franklin Myers, Attorney at Law.

Gay was a faithful and longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She was a loving, kind, devoted friend to many in and throughout her life. She was a compassionate lady who not only gave of herself through service and devotion but would help anyone who needed help. Many will remember her joyful spirit and delightful giggle.

Gay loved life and her dedication to her family and friends and even strangers will be her legacy. Gay loved working with the children as she was called to do in her church. Gay will be greatly missed.
