Gertrude "Gert" Delores Wilkes

October 13, 1927 – December 14, 2021

Gert Wilkes passed away peacefully at her home in Magnolia, Texas on December 14, 2021 at the age of 94.

Services will be held at Salem Lutheran Church - 22601 Lutheran Church Road, Tomball, Texas on Monday December 20, 2021 with viewing beginning at 10:00 am, and funeral service at 11:00 am.

Gert was raised in Neenah, Wisconsin and was the eldest child of the family. She graduated from Neenah High School and married Gene Wilkes on November 3, 1944. She enjoyed traveling to various countries, shopping, and playing cards, where she excelled to earn the title of Bridge Life Master.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene of whom she was married to for 45 years. She was further preceded by her parents Paul and Anna Thomack, parents-in-law Harold and Mabel Wilkes, grandson Scott Wilkes, granddaughter Cheryl Churpek, brother Wilmer Thomack, sisters-in-law Janet Thomack, Betty Wilkes, Janice Tews, brothers-in-law Lesley Wilkes, Jerry Prey, Bud Tews, Bob Winarski, and nephew Phil Thomack.

Gert was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, spouse, and a person loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons James (Brenda) Wilkes, Steven (Terri) Wilkes, and daughter Christine (Mark) Churpek, her brother Bob Thomack, and sisters Marge Winarski, Jeanette Prey, and Sandy (Randy) Popp, and sister-in-law Marilyn Thomack, along with nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. Her family will always be the pride and joy of her life.

Gert was a strong and dedicated woman who led an incredible life. She was deeply devoted to her faith and church - Salem Lutheran Church. She consistently expressed how privileged she felt to serve God through the church. The church felt the impact of her efforts, in particular, The Worship Department. After her retirement, she continued serving God through regularly volunteering her time.

Nicknamed the "Energizer Bunny" – her bright smile radiated from her soul. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her!
