Gertrud (Trudy) Luise Czina peacefully walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, at her home in Katy, Texas.

Trudy was born November 10, 1930 in Obermoschel, Germany, to Ottie (Weiss) and Ludwig Konig. She moved to the United States in 1957 settling in San Antonio after marrying Elvin Gene Estes in 1956 in Germany.

When Trudy first moved to the United States, she did not speak or read English. She taught herself to read English through children's books. She later took typing classes so she could enter the workforce. She had lengthy careers at both USAA in San Antonio and later at Diamond Shamrock after moving to Katy in 1980. Trudy married Michael Stephen Czina, her soul mate, on December 28, 1972, in Seguin, Texas. She enjoyed making floral arrangements for Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy. She loved flowers, the beach, Elvis, and George Strait (not necessarily in that order).

Trudy is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and one sister, all from Germany. She is also predeceased by both husbands. She is survived by her two sons, Elvin Mack Estes and wife Teri of Georgetown, and Mark Gregory Czina of Katy. She is also survived by her granddaughter - Melanie Schulze, grandson - Cody Estes, great-grandson - Felix Schoppet, brother in-law – Jack Czina, sister in-law – Debbie Buskirk, and additional extended family in Germany.

Trudy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.

A celebration of Trudy's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, in the Klein Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375. Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
