Gerardo "Jerry" Munguia's Obituary
Gerardo "Jerry" Munguia was born on June 29th, 1974 in Houston, TX as the fifth of six children. He was a loving father, dedicated husband, loyal brother and brother-in-law, favorite uncle and constant son. Words can not describe the relationship he had with others. He leaves a legacy that will endure long beyond his physical life. Perhaps the best way to remember him is via stories that capture his essense:
"He could cook a mean brisket" was a constant refrain. As a "pyrotechnic engineer" he ordered fireworks directly from China and would light up the neighborhood on holidays. He never stopped moving, everyday up
at 5am
to go to work or even when taking the kids to Disney on "vacation". He was a giver and loved his Houston Astros where he frequently attended games at
Minute Maid Park
. On one occasion he caught a foul ball and gave it to a little boy in the stands. Later his wife reminded him he could have saved it for his son. But that was Jerry, always thinking of others. His other passion was boxing and he enjoyed watching the big fights as well as the undercards. In fact he often said his dream was to have been a professional boxer.
Jerry began working for Specialty Heat Treat in 2001 when he was 26 years old. He started as a furnace operator and climbed the ranks rapidly to shop foreman. In 2014 he was promoted to production planner. As an invaluable employee, liked and respected by all, and crucial to SHT's success for each of those 17 years, his absence will be truly felt.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife and partner of almost 30 years, Angelica. His two children, Christian-11 and Vanessa-15, his mother Consuelo and father Juan De Dios and siblings Juan Antonio, Rigoberto, Silvia, Rolando, and Gabriel. It was life tself where Jerry truly excelled and today this is most evident through the abundant outpour of love and support from everyone he has touched.
He will be dearly missed.
