Geraldine "Jerry" Reader McLead, age 91, passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021. Jerry was born on July 26, 1929 in Kerrville, Texas to George and Nancy Reader. Her family later moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Bill McLead from Rockport, Texas. After many dates to "The Big Tree", the two married on May 17, 1947 and built a wonderful life together over their 62 years of marriage. They had many homes across Louisiana and Texas while Bill worked for ARCO before settling down in Victoria. After Bill passed away, Jerry eventually moved to Houston in 2015 to be close to her son and family.

No matter where she lived, Jerry never met a stranger. Whether it was spending days down at the coast in the Avion, mall walking with neighborhood friends, antiquing, helping Reneé with jewelry shows, or showing off her famous Christmas Village, Jerry's favorite thing to do was spend quality time with loved ones. She was as close to Bill's family as she was her own, enjoying many trips and McLead Family Reunions together over the years.

Jerry is survived by her son, Lonnie James McLead (Janis), granddaughters Dayna Comley (Eric), Kari Bathe (Justin), great grandchildren Wade and Brooke Comley, Brett and Kate Bathe, niece Reneé Douglas (Glenn), and honorary grandsons Jared Douglas (Andrea) and Kyle Douglas (Deana), honorary great grandchildren Luke, Kimber, and Rylee Douglas, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and four sisters. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
