Gerald "Jerry" Douglas Albrecht of Spring, Texas passed away May 15th, 2024. He was 85 years old.

He is survived by his son, Scott Albrecht; daughter, Allyson Albrecht Palmer and husband Rob; in addition to his grandchildren, Taylor Albrecht and wife Julia, Madison Palmer, and Meredith Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Velma (Read) Albrecht; wife, Mary Judith Kos Albrecht of 51 years, and older brother Donald Albrecht.

Born September 16, 1938, Jerry was a native Texan born and raised in the small town of Cuero. Jerry served his country starting first with the Texas National Guard as a Specialist 3rd Class and later enlisted in the US Army. Jerry later moved to Houston and was employed by Cameron Iron Works as a production analysis, where he met his future wife, Judi Kos. Later, Jerry accepted a plant superintendent position at Electra Coatings Aircraft Overhaul Manufacturing Plant in San Antonio and eventually accompanied the relocation of the cylinder plant to Dallas/Fort Worth.

Jerry and Judi returned to Houston where he completed his academic career at The University of Houston with a degree in Sociology. Jerry joined State Farm Insurance in 1971 as an insurance agent and opened his office in the FM 1960/Champions area. Jerry quickly became active in the local business community.

As a new member of this growing community, Jerry sought ways to become involved. He was the co-founder and past Executive Vice President of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce and later influential in the creation of the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce where he served as Chairman of the Board. Jerry also served as president of both the Cy-Fair Rotary Club and the 1960 Lions Club. Additionally, he served as the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Cy-Fair Hospital and was a lifetime member and benefactor of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Houston Farm and Ranch. When once asked about his community involvement, Jerry responded, "We pass this way in life one time and if I am able to make one positive influence on someone's life, all my work will have been worthwhile."

During his 30 years with State Farm, Jerry was recognized as a Crystal of Excellence Agent. Jerry became known for his genuine care and concern for his policy holders. He naturally built rapport and it was not unusual for him to be recognized by former clients twenty plus years past his retirement.

Believing in the importance of education, Jerry was a member of the Cy-Fair Education Foundation since the 1990's and served on several committees. He was also a longtime, devoted supporter of Lone Star College. He served on the President's Advisory Council of the Lone Star College Cy-Fair where he and Judi established two founding endowments. Throughout the years Jerry and his family took advantage of opportunities to meet with scholarship recipients of the Jerry Albrecht Endowment and the Judi and Jerry Albrecht Endowment.

Jerry was a current resident at the Conservatory at Champions Forest where he continued with his community leadership with organizing Christmas toy drives to the local Northwest Assistant Ministries and the creation of an endowment fund at Lone Star College to help young deserving students pay for higher education.

Jerry touched the lives of many with his compassion, wisdom, and willingness to work endlessly helping others. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will deeply missed.
