George Douglas Pringle was born on April 21, 1936 in St Petersburg, Florida to George and Pauline Pringle. After a childhood in sunny Florida his family moved to Marietta, Georgia where he graduated from high school. He went to Carnegie Tech in Pittsburg for a year and decided he was definitely not meant to be an engineer. He transferred to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he met Jane Caudill. They were married shortly after college graduation.

In the summer of 1958 they moved to New Orleans, Louisiana so that he could attend seminary. Their son, George, was born while they lived at the seminary. In the summer of 1961 Douglas and Jane joined the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board and moved to the tiny town of Park View in northern New Mexico. The Spanish Baptist Mission in Park View was his first pastorate. Their family grew by two daughters, Becca and Margie, while they lived there. In the summer of 1965, the family moved to the Republic of Panama to serve as missionaries. He quickly became fluent in Spanish as he pastored congregations in Santa Clara, Aguadulce, Anton and Pocri. He also served as an associational missionary and seminary professor in Arraijan where he became adept at killing poisonous snakes. He never turned down meals provided in love and was brave in trying new foods, including iguana, parrot and turtle soup. He was frequently the ride to the hospital since the Pringles owned one of the few cars in town. Their third daughter, Anna, was born while they lived in Panama.

In 1974 the Pringles moved back to northern New Mexico where Douglas was pastor at Templo Bautista in Las Vegas. He became an avid fan of mediocre athletic performance as he watched his kids play football, volleyball, basketball and run track. At his daughters' games he was often the lone and loud voice in the stands. He was active in the football booster club and became a friend and spiritual mentor to several coaches.

In 1982 Doug and Jane accepted a call to pastor Iglesia Bautista Getsemani in New Orleans, Louisiana. They served that multi-faceted community representing a myriad of Spanish-speaking countries through joys and trials and losses and actual hurricanes. As he shepherded his flock he became familiar with the valleys and rocky paths of the immigration court system helping congregants navigate the pathways to legal status.

In 2002 Doug and Jane moved to Spring, Texas to enjoy farm life on shared acreage with their daughter's family. Doug enjoyed using the tractor to mow the vast lawns. He used his craftsman skills in building porches and decks all while chasing geese and chickens off of his projects. In 2006 Doug lost his beloved Jane to cancer.

Douglas was pastor of the Spanish-speaking congregation at The Met in Houston for many years, and he joyfully served with the Saints Alive group. While working at The Met, he met Margarita Lopez and they were married in 2013.

Doug, as he was known to his family, was a thoughtful man of deep faith with a fervent love for the Scriptures. He loved words and he delved deeply into the context and meaning of the Biblical texts, even reading and studying the New Testament in Greek. He believed that the more you studied the gospels and learned of Jesus, the more liberal you became in ministering to the needs of his people. Throughout his life he wrote and delivered thousands of sermons, always finding and sharing life-changing truths. He often preached in both English and Spanish, translating for himself. Doug was not one to draw attention to himself, but was a quiet, humble man, as happy washing dishes as leading a Bible study. His life was consistently marked by a faithfulness to prayer, fellowship with believers and meditation in the word of God.

George Douglas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, pastor and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, his granddaughter Elizabeth, his grandson Joe, his step-daughter Carolina, and his sister Janice. He is survived by his wife Margarita, his son George (Genny), his daughters Becca Porter (Don), Margie Crawford (Gary), and Anna Rodriguez (Porfirio); his grandchildren Melissa Bullard (Ian), J.D. Porter (Hannah Walser), Curtis Porter (Sarah Lykens), David Porter (Brooke Crowe), Brian Pringle, Matthew Crawford (Riki), Risa Porter (William McCormack), Samuel Porter (Skye), Ruth Crawford, Xochitl Rodriguez, Raimundo Rodriguez (Andrea), Maya Rodriguez, Andres Rodriguez; his great-grandchildren Alexandra and Kaitlyn Bullard, Bo and Anabelle Crawford, Adrian and Isaac Pringle, Damian Rodarte, Miguel and Isabella Medina, Levi and Ella Porter.
