?Geoffrey Dennis Purdon Jr. passed away peacefully Friday, January 26, 2018 at 9:27 A.M. surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Sue Grant Purdon.
Geoff was born April 3, 1938, in Beaumont, Texas, to Willie Mae Blazek Purdon and Geoffrey Dennis Purdon, Sr. Geoff made long-lasting friends, the Podnah's, at an early age and they remain his friends to this day.
Geoff lived in England for three years during his teenage years and was able to attend the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1952. He graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont in 1956 then Lamar University with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1960. That same year Geoff married his beloved wife, Susie. Later, Geoff received a Masters in Business Administration in 1970.
Geoff also served his country as a Combat Engineer in the Army in 1961 and then in the reserves for eight more years. Geoff and Susie began a family and had two children, Steve and Donna. Geoff traveled worldwide for work and made friends worldwide as well as ate exotic and strange foods. When Geoff worked at Stone and Webster as a consultant, he traveled to Portugal, Philippines, Gambia, England, Ireland, Australia, China, and India. Geoff loved to travel with Susie to Britain and China. Geoff loved to jitterbug, play tennis, fish, and sit on his balcony at the beach cabin with his beloved wife, Susie, watching the sunrise.
In his later years he took special care of Susie, studied history, and the Bible. He loved watching his plants, flowers, and squirrels in his backyard through his large picture window.
Geoff is survived by his sister, Patricia Jane Purdon Miranda; his son, Steven Geoffrey Purdon and wife, Crystal Purdon; his daughter, Donna Kay Purdon Hein and husband, Steven Hein; his granddaughters, Melissa, Abby, and Bailey Purdon and Sydney and Sarah Hein; his brother-in-law, Glen Grant; sisters-in-law, Melnee Grant and Janis Dunigan; his nieces, Stacey Vartanian, Shaundra Hardt, Kim Hargraves and Andrea Carruth; and his nephews, Wade Grant and Tommy and Michael Hargraves. He is survived by many friends as well.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will take place following the service in Klein Memorial Park, FM 2920, Tomball.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society for Prostate Cancer Research.
