Genevieve Evelyn Davies Holder, 80, of Spring, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2020.  She passed peacefully at her home with her family by her side, after a 5 month battle with congestive heart failure.

She was born March 23, 1940 in Granite City, Illinois to William Howell and Lorayne Laura Davies. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Susan and Jason French of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Julie Morrow Bohanon and Aaron Bohanon of Spring, and Elizabeth and Rob Clark, of Tomball; her grandchildren Chloe Keefer, Drew Keefer, Owen Keefer, Mallorie Staples, and Macie Clark; step-grandchild, Matthew Clark; sister-in-law, Carole Davies of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, William R. Holder MD; her brother, William Davies; and her son-in-law, James Morrow.

Genevieve graduated from the University of Houston in 1962, where she worked in the transcript department.  She was a long time resident of Baytown, Texas, having moved there in 1972, and was active in the Baytown community, belonging to and leading many service based organizations, church and medical groups, and school activities.

Genevieve's education career spanned 20 years, mostly at Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, teaching English for fourteen.  She was an inspiring and dedicated teacher with a love for literature.  She spearheaded Robert E. Lee High School's Students Against Drunk Driving and started the school's first Project Graduation. She made many life long, treasured friends while teaching.

She had a zest for life. After she retired in 1995, she enjoyed spending more time with her family, including her dear grandchildren who called her "Moo".  She loved traveling, cruising, good mysteries, theatre, and Texan football games.  She was a devoted dog mom to Charlie and Banshee.  She had a special flair for decorating at every season and holiday, especially Christmas, and was extremely patriotic and supported various veterans' organizations.  She held a lifelong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which was evident in her daily life and generosity.

Her family is grateful to Evergreen Private Care and their compassionate caregivers, as well as Loving Hope Hospice and their nurses, social worker, and chaplain, who made sure Ginny was well cared for in the last several months of her life.

A small private family graveside service will be held at 10 am on Friday July 31, 2020, at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas  77375.  A memorial service will follow at a later date.
