Gene Nuqui passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1941, in the Philippines to the late Renee and Felina Nuqui.

Gene honorably served his country in the United States Army for 30 years.  He was 1st Cavalry during Vietnam War after he was selected for direct commission to Flight School, where he became a highly skilled Black Hawk, Huey helicopter pilot.

Throughout his distinguished military career, Gene with CW4 rank, was entrusted with flying commanders, generals, and numerous dignitaries. He maintained a flawless flight record and earned the highest respect of his fellow soldiers and superiors. His military evaluations consistently described him as the epitome of professionalism, leadership, and dedication to the United States Army.

After retiring from military service, Gene continued his passion for aviation. Over the years, he served as a corporate pilot, Life Flight pilot, test pilot for MD Helicopters and Boeing, and flew for many distinguished individuals and corporations. Among those he flew were Paul Allen and Bill Gates, transporting them to and from their yachts, and Jerry Brassfield to Brassfield Winery. His exceptional skill and professionalism made him one of the most sought-after pilots in the industry.

Two years after retiring from the Army, while working as a Life Flight pilot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Gene met the love of his life, Nancy. It was truly love at first sight. They shared 35 wonderful years together, filled with love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion. During their marriage, they moved to 7 states and 13 homes together!  Yes, a great adventure, for sure.

Gene loved flying and continued his career until the age of 75. Nancy affectionately called him her Filipino "Fly Boy." He was a loving, caring, patient and a devoted husband- Such a blessing.  He enjoyed singing karaoke, playing his guitar, solving challenging puzzles, and spending time with his beloved wifey and their treasured fur baby, Bella.

Gene leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his wife, Nancy; his children, Gene B. (Ashley), Jeanette, and Tremaine; his granddaughters,Elizabeth, Lexi, and Brittany Nuqui; his siblings, Roland (Chris), Larry (Arlene), Albert, and Elvie (Ben) Richmond; as well as nieces and nephews.

Gene's life was one of honor, service, adventure, and unconditional love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
