Known to his loved ones as Gene or Grandpa Hunt, he was one of 5 children to Anna Mae Marquam and Clarence Henry Hunt. After feeling the calling of Christ to the mission field as a young man he went to Southern California Bible College where he met and married Mary Olive Barth, his beloved bride of 67 years. They had 4 children: Clarence Eugene Jr., Merry-Zoe, Nancy, and Elizabeth. After a year of language school in Costa Rica, they went to work in Venezuela as church planters where they served for almost 3 decades with United World Mission. Gene was known for his tender spirit, his gift of Evangelism, and his love for the Lord and for people; which showed to all who met him. He led many to Christ and impacted the lives of many more and in the process expanded his family to include beloved brothers and sisters in Christ whom he loved like adopted children and grandchildren. Upon retirement, they first moved back to California to live near their oldest grandson Wesley Hunt, son of Clarence Eugene Jr who passed away in 1975. Later, they moved to Tomball, Texas to live near Merry-Zoe and her family. Mary Olive passed away on October 18, 2014. Gene continued to fight the good fight and preached the love of Christ up until his death. He will be remembered not only by his children and grandchildren, but by the many whose lives he touched. Special thanks to Brenda Martinez who served both Gene and Mary Olive; helping the days before their home going to be as joyful as possible.
