Gayle L. Ramsey
Gayle L. Ramsey, age 89, was born on October 5, 1936 in Thornton, Tx and passed away on July 5, 2026 in Cypress, Tx, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the simple pleasures of life.
Gayle was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Jean Ramsey; his parents, Homer and Pauline Ramsey; and his siblings, Charles Ramsey, Margaret Coates, and Paula Dean Flasowski. He was also preceded in death by his longtime friend, Johnnie Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Ramsey; his son, Carey Ramsey and wife Deann; and his daughter, Cathey Ramsey Rhodes and husband Kenneth. He was a proud grandfather to Blake Ramsey and wife Maria, Lauren Rhodes, and Ryan Rhodes. He is also survived by Angie and Bill Temple, Marshall Weeks, Rand and Linda Bates, Bonnie Johnson, and numerous "favorite" nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A graduate of Thornton High School's Class of 1955, Gayle carried a strong work ethic throughout his life. He worked for Tex Tube, RW Sloan Steel, and Southern Pacific Railroad, where he served as a switchman until his retirement. His dedication and commitment to his work earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, Gayle found great joy in restoring antique tractors and proudly displaying them in the Thornton Homecoming Parade. He also loved gardening and took pride in raising tomatoes, corn, and Black Diamond watermelons. These hobbies reflected his appreciation for tradition, hard work, and the outdoors.
Gayle will be remembered for his kindness, his love of family, his devotion to friends, and the many memories he created over the years. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and family members who offered prayers, support, and encouragement during his time of need. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered and appreciated.
A visitation will be held in the main chapel of Klein Funeral Home (1400 W. Main St. Tomball, Tx 77237) from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 AM.
Mr. Ramsey will be laid to rest at Klein Memorial Park (32509 TX-249, Pinehurst, TX 77362) following services.
