Gary Lee Phillips was born in San Bernadino, California on February 2, 1962 and passed away at his home in Spring, Texas on December 12, 2021 at the age of 59.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clayman Hall Phillips and brother-in-law, Robert Cervantes, Jr.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Maria Dolores Phillips; his children, Claudia Thomas Phillips Kiser (John), Gary Kyle Phillips, Crystal Phillips Jarvis, Abigail Marie Phillips, Phillip Robert Cervantes Munoz (Joseline) and Ashley Lara Cervantes Munoz; grandchildren Carla Marie Kiser, Alyssa Chevelle Kiser, John Carl Kiser, Teagan Sophia Wilson, Kaylee Elizabeth Jarvis and Bryson McDaniel; his Mother, Yvonne Phillips; brothers Teddy Phillips and Clay Phillips (B.J.) and his sister, Carolyn Watkins.  He is also survived by his Brother-in-laws, Javier Mosqueda (Teresa) and Frank Cervantes (Kristi) along with his Sister-in-Laws - Barbara Martinez (Henry) and Theresa Cervantes and his Mother-in-Law, Josephine Cervantes. Gary is also survived by nieces & nephews, friends, the Harris County Sheriff's Office Family and Criminal Justice Center Family.

Gary was born in San Bernandino, CA but also resided in Burnsville, NC before making the Houston area is home.  After graduation from High School, he joined the Army and proudly served his country for 5 years.  He was assigned to the 101 ^st Airborne Division where he was a paratrooper before becoming a Military Police Officer.  He also trained with the French Foreign Legion which earned him a medal.  He served in the Army for 5 years.  In 1989 Gary moved to Texas and on August 26, 1991, he began his career with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.  During his time with HSCO he made countless friends.  He was respected and loved among his peers.  His presence will be greatly missed, and his name will be spoken in the years to come. Gary was all about family.  He was so proud of his kids and strived to be present for their events.  He enjoyed Friday Night Lights especially the half-time shows in which Phillip, Ashley & Abigial were all a part.  He enjoyed the football game, but he was there for the half-time performance.  He was so proud of them just as he was of Claudia, Crystal, and Gary Kyle.  He spent time on the beach playing in the sand, riding 4-wheelers and playing in the snow.  Gary's greatest accomplishment was being a family man.  He loved his family and they loved him right back.  He strived to always be a good man, a better man than yesterday.  Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379.  A funeral service for Gary will be held at 10am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, to be followed by committal with Military Honors at the Houston National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
