Gary Aldon Lang, Sr., of Cypress, Texas, was called home by his heavenly father on May 14, 2024. He was 84.
Gary was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 16, 1939, spent his early childhood in Denton and moved to Waco when he was 9. He graduated from Waco High School in 1957. From there he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Soon after, Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Policeman with the 3918th Operations Squadron, Strategic Air Command, Upper Heyford, England. While there, Gary spent his free time enjoying London and in 1961 took a 30 day leave to tour Europe. While in Vienna, he appeared in scenes of John Huston's film "Freud."
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Gary dedicated himself to earning a BBA in Economics/Finance at Baylor University.
In 1967, Gary moved to Houston where he enjoyed a 48-year career in accounting across multiple industries such as airlines, staffing, and oil and gas.
Gary met his wife, Marianne, and married in 1981. They welcomed their son, Gary Jr., in 1983.
Gary was a founding member of Fairfield Baptist Church, where he delighted others when he sang. He was a member of the San Jacinto Descendants and the Sons of The Republic of Texas. Gary also served as a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marianne Nielsen Lang; his son, Gary A. Lang, Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Gloria Lang.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Teeling Lang, a musician and piano instructor, and his father, Dr. Aldon S. Lang, former Dean, Hankamer School of Business, Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
A funeral service celebrating Gary's life and faith will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065. Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Willowhole Cemetery, 12910 FM 1372, North Zulch, TX 77872.
