Gary Lynn Clemens, age 69 passed away January 11, 2022 from failing health over several years.  He was born June 21 ^st , 1952 in Pittsburg, KS to Fred and Velma Clemens.  A graduate of both Pittsburg High Purple Dragons where he was a kicker and Pittsburg State University Gorillas, he became an Oklahoma Sooner football fan with building momentum early on and forevermore enjoyed fall afternoons rooting on the Crimson and Cream on radio and television.  At age 21 he became a father to his son Aaron and began employment in the oil industry in Tulsa, OK where he enjoyed his only and long and successful career.  While there he met his wife of 39 years DeNise Clemens and daughter Kim.  Gary and DeNise married on May 11, 1979.

While in Tulsa and beyond he was a Dad and father figure, youth sports coach, cheerleader, supporter, fan and mentor.  Following an employment merger prompting a 1994 move to the Houston area in Tomball, TX he was able to retire early and continue his unparalleled devotion to his wife DeNise and family throughout.  After DeNise passed in 2018 he cared for the pups- their Shelties Zach, Vegas, and Rhythm who are now in the care of a family friend.

A Boomer Sooner and meat & potatoes guy, he acquired vast knowledge in the "completely plain" burger arena.  Following the "completely plain" order came the obligatory double check by the order recipient, and then the response from him went something like "That is correct just meat and bread, correct, plain, completely plain."  This exchange may have occurred ten thousand times.  Gary admirably did it his way, the GLC way, in most everything he did.  From loving to giving to food selection to finances and more, "I did it my way" was fair.  "I love you guys" were his final words.  Anyone who knew him knows it was thought about before said, and to be true.

Gary is preceded in his death by his parents and wife DeNise.  He is survived by his son Aaron and wife Nicole Clemens with grandchildren Will, Rhett and Minnie Clemens; by his daughter Kim and husband Scott Schein with grandchildren Tyler and Austin Schein, brother Bob and wife Marilyn Clemens of Dallas, TX, brother Dick and wife Tae Clemens of Olathe, KS.

A graveside service will take place at 1p.m. Friday January 21 at Frederick Memorial Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma.  Flowers or a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or American Cancer Society are meaningful.
