Garrett Lynn McDaniel, 21, was called home to our Lord's House on July 11, 2018. He was born on August 19, 1996 at Rosewood Hospital in Houston, Texas, to Jeffrey and Roxie McDaniel. He was the apple of his parents' eyes and best friend to his brother, Gramm Wilson McDaniel (23 years old). Garrett was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2016.
Garrett graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 2015, residing in Cypress with his family since 2006. He also attended grade school in Katy ISD and Smithville ISD. Garrett attended a private school, Focus Academy in Katy, for a while in junior high, where he made many lasting and special friendships with other students and staff. Garrett was a student at Lone Star College Cy-Fair, preparing to enter the architectural drafting program in the Fall.
Garrett was known by his friends and family as extremely bright and an engaging conversationalist. He was a free-spirited and a deep thinker. Quantum Physics, String Theory, Roman Military Strategy were just a few of his subjects of light reading. He LOVED being around people, talking politics and random trivial facts. Garrett was enamored with and studied words and was known for his unique ability to make humorous puns. He taught himself to read by the age of three. In 7th grade he was very proud to have been recognized by Duke University in their Talent Identification Program. He had an uncommon eye and ear for beauty and art. He was a photographer and graphics designer for the yearbook at Cy-Fair HS and went on to win a UIL honorable mention for his creation of senior ads his senior year. His yearbook cohorts awarded him with the 110% award for his hard work his senior year. He had a deep appreciation for music rendered in the 70's era. He was especially fond of the guitar and proceeded to teach himself how to play that style of music. He was also fond of collecting classic, originals, including guitars, LP albums and video consoles. Atari was his favorite. Garrett had a huge heart. He felt called to visit those he loved who needed compassion; and, he loved animals and children. He visited his family in Cypress on an almost daily basis.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Roxie and Jeffrey McDaniel and his big brother Gramm Wilson McDaniel of Cypress, Tx, grandfather (Paw) W. W. McDaniel of Cypress, Tx, grandmother (Nana) Linda McDaniel of Cypress, Tx, Uncle Timothy McDaniel of Cypress, Tx, Uncle Anthony McDaniel and wife Robin of Cypress, Tx, Aunt Ashlee of Cypress, Tx, and Aunt Patricia Gorman and husband Brent of Columbus, Tx.
