Obituary

On Monday, December 23, 2024, Gabriel Christian Owen Brackett, of Montgomery, Texas, unexpectedly passed away at the age of  47. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Juliet Brackett,  his youngest daughter, Avery Rose Brackett, and his parents, Robert and Nancy Brackett. Gabe was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Natalie Marie Brackett one week earlier.

Gabriel graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration Specialization in Management in 2004. He was undoubtedly a devoted husband and father. He was intelligent, trustworthy, honest, hard-working, friendly, patient, funny, quirky and passionate about his family, soccer, golf and meteorology, among other things.

When his daughter, Natalie showed interest after seeing their first power chair soccer practice, they couldn't join fast enough and never looked back. Gabe had a deep desire for Natalie to have the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition and joy of working with a team. His loving support for Natalie was evident any time you saw him. He eventually became coach of the Houston Fireballs power chair soccer team. Getting eye level with the players, he crouched down to discuss strategy and encourage them to improve as an individual and as a whole. He was a very proud father and coach that could never contain his passion.

As an avid golfer, Gabe was thrilled when his youngest daughter, Avery, began showing an interest and a natural talent for golf. At nine years old, Avery began formal lessons and  informal lessons with Gabe ever since. Going to different courses, helping to foster her skills and show his confidence in her, he was ecstatic when Avery joined a PGA Junior League. Once again, he was able to share one of his passions with his daughter.

Anyone who knew Gabe, knew that he knew weather. Starting at the age of 4 ½, he was vigilant in following the current and near future conditions. The weather channel was on regularly and he gladly informed everyone of what to expect the next day or week. Although we joked around with him, we all got used to having our personal weather advisor. He once said he didn't become a meteorologist because he didn't want to always be wrong. Right or wrong, we will miss his enthusiastic weather reports and warnings.

Gabe was always surrounded by educators. His parents, his wife and sister-in-law were teachers. In 2008, he became the Chief Operating Officer for etools4Education, an online alternative teacher certification program, created by his parents, Robert and Nancy. He worked tirelessly to keep the business growing and help people make the transition into education. Gabe was not an educator, but he was a teacher, a coach. He saw a person's strengths and weaknesses, and inspired them to enhance and improve themselves in all aspects of life.

A celebration of Gabriel's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. and the service will begin at 2:00 P.M. at the Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia. In honor of his memory, the family set up Gabe's Golf Legacy Fund, to help his daughter, Avery continue playing golf, the sport they both love so much.
