Rod was an Engineer for over 25 years focusing on service, repair, and installation of oil field equipment.  At 18, he enlisted in the Navy completing engineering school and later submarine school.  In 1955, while living in Liberty, Texas, and working offshore, he met Bonnie. They married and had two children, Sheryl and Jeff, and he is stepdad to Bill and Bonnie. In 1967, oil was booming and Rod began traveling all over the world. He traveled to over 29 countries and also traveled domestically. In 1976 Rod moved his family to Memorial Chase in Spring, Texas.

He was well known by many as "Grandpa" and for being a devoted swim team spectator, pit boss for Pine Wood Derby, and a volunteer grandparent at Krahn Elementary.  Rod and Bonnie spent many years participating in Waco Street Machine Show with young men who had been friends of their son, Jeff. Rod stayed active until his mid-8Os driving for a wholesale printer company. Rod enjoyed reading the newspaper and working the crossword puzzles.  Most of all he loved to make people laugh with his witty remarks.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Klein Funeral Home - Champions, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379. Friends may begin visiting with the family at 9 a.m. Interment will be private.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to Northwest Assistance Ministries.
