Frederic Eugene Welch
August 7, 1943 – May 3, 2026

Frederic Eugene "Fred" Welch, 82, of Spring, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 3, 2026.

Fred was born on August 7, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri, to Alfred and Elender Welch. Due to his family's frequent moves, he grew up in many different places. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a member of the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) and saw combat during his service.

In his professional life, Fred owned and operated several successful businesses in the electronics industry and oil and gas drilling. He also specialized in high-priority government logistics (999 priority), providing critical support to the Military, NASA, and FEMA. Additionally, he was an accomplished real estate investor.

Above all, Fred was a devoted family man and a man of Christian faith. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Known for his strong work ethic, quick sense of humor, and genuine kindness, he lived his life with a love for Jesus, his Savior.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Welch; his children, Jeffrey Welch and wife Michelle, James Welch, and Joy Welch; his grandchildren, Michael Welch, Austin Wallace and wife Devon, McKella Jones and husband Travis, Taylor Coward, and Harwood House; his great-grandchildren, Carter Wallace and Cooper Wallace; and his sister, Willow Hopkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elender Welch; his daughter, Annette May Welch; his sisters, Geneva Schofield and Maxine Huntsman; his brothers, Clarence Schofield, Arnold Welch, and Carmel Welch; and his brother-in-law, Harwood Hopkins.

Please meet in Lane 1 at 11:15 a.m. (please arrive on time).  The Lane will process to the VA shelter at 11:30.

Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Gringo's Mexican Kitchen, 19330 I-45, Spring, TX 77373, at 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery (maps will be available or texted upon request).

Everyone is welcome to join any or all of the day's events. The family would love to see you there as we celebrate Fred's life.
