Joe Boren, 59, of Spring, Texas, passed away on February, 2nd, 2017.  He fought cancer for nearly nine years, enduring treatment after treatment, and until his last breath, he believed that he would find a miracle cure.

He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on February 20th, 1957, to Ethel C. Boren and the late Mayo R. Boren.  He grew up in Pollock, Louisiana, spending his youth playing basketball and baseball.  He graduated from Georgetown High School, in Georgetown, Louisiana, and went on to attend Louisiana College, where he played basketball and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business.

He moved to Anchorage, Alaska after college, where he met his wife, Brenda, on a blind date.  They were married a few months later on January 7th, 1983.  They took a company transfer to Seattle, Washington where they lived for a year and he took another company transfer to Houston, Texas in 1984.  He worked for Lynden Airfreight for 18 years, and started his own Airfreight and transportation company, A+ Airfreight, in 1999.  He worked tirelessly at his business and was very proud of its success.

Joe was known for his selfless devotion and generosity to family and friends. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved spending time with them.  He enjoyed traveling the world, especially if it involved a cruise or the beach, playing or coaching basketball, movies, food, family vacations, playing with his dogs, and visiting friends.

Joe is survived by his wife Brenda, son Colby Boren and wife Alissa Cox, daughter Amanda Mayhew and husband Joe, twin grandchildren Cash and Cara Mayhew, mother Ethel Boren, brother Donald Boren and wife Betty, brother Jerry Boren, brother Dennis Boren and wife Mariah, brother Karl Boren, sister Peggy Durand and husband Owen, sister Mary Kay Bardwell and husband Pat, as well as many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.

Instead of floral remembrances, Joe would prefer you buy a friend or family a bouquet, fill out an organ donation card, make a donation to a pet rescue organization, or do a good deed for someone.
