Fred Thomas Ponder of Houston Texas passed away September 30, 2021. Fred was born on March 6, 1940 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Ruben and Gladys Ponder.

Fred is survived by his wife of 34 years, Virginia Ponder, brother Joe Ponder, sister Betty Watkins & husband Charles, sister Peggy Martin & husband Tony, son Thomas Eric Ponder & wife Tammy, sister in law Eleanor Reiff, brother in law Mickey Bombek, sister in law Jane Zerillo & husband Pat, step son Jeff Brady & wife Stephanie, step daughter Janet Clark & husband Rick, step son Gregg Brady & wife Belinda as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Including Fred's parents Fred was preceded in death by brother Jack Ponder, sister and brother in laws Donna & Ron Smith and sister in law Marian Matthei.

Fred received his AB, ABD, and Masters degrees from University of Alabama. His Ed.S degree from Mississippi State and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from University of North Dallas.

Memorial Services will be held Monday October 25th at 11:00AM at Kinsmen Lutheran Church, 12100 Champion Forest Drive, Houston, Texas 77069 with the Reverend Mark England officiating. A visitation with the family will be at 10:30AM at the church and the service will be streamed and recorded on YouTube for those unable to attend in person.
