Franklin D. Hamilton was born in Topeka Kansas to Franklin D. Sr. and Aileen Hamilton on December 22, 1926. Dad passed away on February 2, 2023.

Dad lived in Topeka until he was 12. His father, who was an auditor for the Santa Fe railroad, was transferred to Wellington, Kansas. Dad did not want to go, but soon realized that living in a small town was wonderful. He played on the football and basketball teams and had many good times. He graduated from high school on Friday night in May 1945 and was on a bus the following Monday morning headed for army basic training.

After 18 months in the army, dad attended Kansas State University. Upon graduating he went to work in Three Sands Oklahoma, for the Gulf Oil Corporation. It was in Oklahoma that he met and married our mother Kelly Sue Young on August 17, 1952.

Steven James Hamilton was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on August 22, 1953. Dad was transferred to Denver, Colorado where David Franklin Hamilton was born on July 25, 1956. In 1959 dad was transferred to Oklahoma City. The family lived in The Village where Steve and David completed high school.

In 1976, dad and mom were transferred to Slidell, LA. After a couple of years, they were transferred to Houston. They lived in Spring, Tx and dad retired in 1983. Dad and mom had many trips together; they traveled to Japan, Scotland, Alaska, Hawaii, to name a few. In October, 2006 on a trip to Hawaii, mom got sick and peacefully passed away. Dad and mom belonged to the Blue Bonnet Square Dance Club for many years. Dad continued to attend and in the fall of 2008 he asked fellow dancer Sandra Orewiler to marry him. She accepted and they were married on the beach in Hawaii on November 2, 2008. Sandy has been a blessing to dad and they have had many nice trips together. Sandy has taken good care of dad and nursed him through a hip replacement surgery. She has tirelessly attended to him in his final days. Her daughter Jodi and son in law Mike have also been a blessing.
