Frankie (Frank) Lyle Colbert was born on May 22, 1936, to Harold Lee and Emma Maxine Colbert in West Point, MS. He went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2023. He is survived by his wife Bettye Sue of 65 years, daughter Lisa and son-in-law Mike, son Jason and daughter-in-law Pam, daughter Laura and son-in-law Chris. Frank adored his grandchildren and was very proud of Ryan, Hannah, Zane and Zoe.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Max Colbert, and sister, Catherine Adele Pierce Mathews. Also, nephews; Mark Colbert, John Colbert, Steven Pierce, Tommy Mathews, niece Nicole Matthews Castillo and great nephew Christian Castillo.

Frank grew up in West Point, MS. His mother died when he was a small boy and he grew up knowing the value of hard work. In high school he lettered in football, worked to provide for himself, and met the love of his life, Bettye Sue Mathews. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. On leave from the Army, he and Bettye Sue began dating and eventually married in 1957.

He valued education and enrolled at Mississippi State University where he was a member of scholastic fraternities Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma. He graduated with honors with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and obtained certification as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana and Texas.

Frank's first engineering job was at Shell Oil in New Orleans. LA. While there the couple's first two children, Lisa and Jason, were born. In 1968, they transferred Frank and family to Houston where they would later welcome their third child, Laura. Frank's work kept them moving and they transferred overseas to Holland and then England before returning stateside to Houston, TX in 1974. While overseas Frank was recognized for his involvement on the Mobil North Sea Limited Beryl Alpha platform.

The family settled in Northwest Houston where Frank worked for other engineering firms and continued designing offshore platforms. He would eventually retire from Oil Field Development (OFD) Engineering Firm.

When not attending his children's school, sporting, and extra activities events, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and time with his friends. He was a true engineer and called himself "Frank Fix" anytime something needed repair. He was never late and always prepared.

Frank was a member of Windwood Presbyterian Church. He had a giant heart and loved large. He treasured his family, extended family, and continuously found ways to serve his loved ones. His crooked grin, inside jokes with his children, gentle spirit, and loving ways will forever be missed and never forgotten.
