Born in San Antonio, Texas on April 17, 1931, Frances Jane Riggs Young went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James (Jim) Mathew Young Jr., her sister, Marjorie Louise Stokes, and son-in-law William Granger Sharman II. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Claudia Arlene and Ted Sellars, her son and daughter-in-law, James Alan and Patricia Young, and her daughter, Gwynne Annell Young Sharman. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Christene Sharman, William Joseph Sharman II and spouse, Amanda Sharman, Austin James Young and spouse, Rebecca Boisvert, Taylor Ann Young, and Kirby Nicole Miller and spouse, Michael Miller. Frances also has fourteen great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Frances grew up in San Antonio where she attended Harlandale High School and met the love of her life and future husband, Jim. They were married in 1949, a year after graduation, and continued to love each other until his death is January 2022. Jim joined the US Navy and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii where their son James was born. Following his military service, he and Frances relocated to San Antonio where their daughter Gwynne was born. Frances was very active in the lives of her children including serving in several leadership roles with their school PTA.

In 1965, the family transferred to Houston, Texas. Frances started her business career and worked for several companies. She eventually started her own business, Young Insurance Agency, which proved to be very successful. Frances was the first female licensed insurance agent to own her own company in the State of Texas.

Frances and Jim were active members of their church. She enjoyed being involved and played the organ during services for several years. She and Jim co-founded Total Care Ministries which was dedicated to crisis within the hospitals, nursing homes and included providing biblical counseling to individuals and families.

She was truly loved by so many and will be missed.
