Frances T. Lyons, 90, passed peacefully from this life on April 9, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born in Portland, Oregon, on December 20, 1933, Frances was the daughter of Edwin and Alta Thompson. She was a wife, mom to eight, Grammie to some and Nana to others, and she fiercely loved her family.

While attending a dance in 1953, Frances went up to a uniformed Air Force man, asked him to dance, and as the saying goes–the rest was history. Six weeks later, on November 20, 1953, Frances married the love of her life, Sidney L. Lyons. They were married for 36 years before he preceded her in death on November 19, 1989.

Frances made an impact on not only her immediate family with her unfailing love and care, but also in the lives of many others through the 35 years she cared for children in her home who lovingly called her Nana. She loved to worship God with all her heart and was a faithful member of Grace Family Church, where she was active in serving alongside her church family. One group she dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with was her widows group from church. She loved a good Hallmark movie, drinking a frappuccino and getting a pedicure. She also loved Christmas, so much so that she would leave her tree up all year long. Her home was an open door to all those who loved her. You never knew who would walk right in to just say hi when you were there for a visit. She was loved by so many and will truly be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Alta Thompson; her husband, Sidney L. Lyons; her sister, Hester Armstrong; her brothers Robert Thompson and Ward Thompson; her daughter-in-law, Susan Lyons; and her granddaughter, Nikki Lyons.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia L. Lockhart of San Antonio, Steven L. Lyons and his wife Debbie of Spring, Michael L. Lyons and his wife, Karen, of Sugarland, Kent L. Lyons and his wife, Lisa, of Bryan, Nancy L. O'Sullivan and her husband, Steve, of San Antonio, Chasity Kuykendall of The Woodlands, Brandon Kuykendall of Tomball, and Tarah Gonzales and her husband, Stephen, of Victoria; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends

In lieu of flower, The family would like to continue Mrs. Frances Lyons passion for helping children so they are requesting donations to help support her churches youth program who will be sending 40 kids and 10 adults to Youth Camp Summer 2024.
