Frances Mary Ann Smith Hees: August 16, 1948 - January 21, 2020

Frances Mary Ann Smith Hees was born August 16, 1948 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Alton James Smith and Angeline Caravella. She has three brothers, James Vincent Smith, Robert John Smith, and Steven Smith. Her father and mother went to be with the Lord in 1988 and 2018 respectively. Her brother Steven Joseph Smith went to be with the Lord in 1994. She is survived by her brothers, James Vincent Smith and Robert John Smith.

Frances married Jerry Dean Hees, April 25, 1966, at the age of 17 just as the Vietnam War was widening and her new husband was in the Army and would be in Vietnam by 1967. Determination and tenacity, mixed with an ample amount of love, are trademarks of her character. She is blessed with three children: Jason David Hees, born October 22, 1970, a stillborn son, in 1976, and a daughter, Jaime Diane Hees Rogers, born April 3, 1978.

Four beautiful grandsons followed: Jacob Daniel Hees, age 14, by Jason David Hees and Susan Stewart Hees, then by Jaime Diane Hees Rogers and Andrew Lee Rogers: Anthony Christopher Hees, age 23, Vincent Joseph Hees, age 21, Gabriel Alexander Rogers, age 18. Like a vine that nourishes the branches, as the family grew, God's love filled her to provide the nourishment for the branches from the overflow of her love.

I, like her children and grandchildren, lived in the warmth and wonder of her love. In the time it takes to blink, I fell in love with her. She was always serenely sophisticated and beautiful. I walked taller beside her as one does when they escort crown jewels into view for all to see.

Alas, I blinked and my love is escorted by another, Jesus Christ. A rare jewel deserves a rare setting and our Lord has placed her in His Crown of Glory for all heaven to see the majesty of His workmanship to the glory of God. One day I will blink again and behold her forever in a Crown of Glory.

Worthy is the Lord and worthy to be praised. AMEN
