Flora Anderson was born (Flora Mae Walley) in Mize, Mississippi in 1931. She grew up with her parents, her father Vardaman Walley, a farmer and his wife Lula along with her younger sister Merle and later brothers James and Daniel. In 1951 she married James W Anderson Sr (Jim) a geologist who she met at Kingston Assembly of God church in Laurel, Mississippi. Before her marriage, she had attended for a short while what is now Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. During their nearly 62 years together, before her husband passed away in 2013, she was able to travel while raising their three children James William Jr, Susan Flora, and Perry Newman. Flora loved to travel and was blessed to live in New Orleans, Trinidad, Alaska, and Australia before settling in the Dallas area in the late 1960s. Additionally, she travelled extensively in North America, and was able to visit the Caribbean, Hawaii, and the Holy Land. Quite the artist, Flora was taught by Sydney Featherstone in Toowoomba, Queensland where she sketched the local scenery and was also introduced to his watercolor techniques. Later in Texas, she learned to paint with oils such as the Hill Country bluebonnets or an old barn. She possessed excellent penmanship, having been taught script by J.B. Coats, her teacher, in Mississippi, currently in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. In high school she won a writing contest, later to develop several pieces unique to her style. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Timothy James, Nathan Scott and Elizabeth Claire, Perry's children with his wife Julie. Susan and her husband Raymond Kelly are also bereaved at her passing as her son James W Anderson Jr. And several nephews and nieces along with friends and acquaintances. Flora was a housewife who eventually worked as a real estate salesperson and later a broker known for her hard work and integrity. A leader among both men and women, she was esteemed as the President of the 1983 Irving Chapter Women's Council of Realtors of the National Association of Realtors.  A strong believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ, she embraced Him as a young woman, and was subsequently saved and filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Her relationship with the Lord was evidenced throughout her life by her love of family, the things of God, her work ethic, The Holy Land, the Jews, and by her accumulation of research sources, Bibles, etc. Flora passed away at home in Magnolia, north of Houston, on Wednesday, November 17, at 90 years, surrounded by family. She was an incredible person. Loved by many.
