Faustina Anna Locke, 78, passed away Thursday, January 26th in Baylor St. Luke's Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was born March 22nd, 1938, the daughter of the late Antonio Nicastro and Amelia Clemente. She spent most of her life in Youngstown, Ohio, an avid member of St. Rocco's Episcopal Church, where she grew up singing in the choir and cooking cavatelles every Sunday. Faustina lived in the kitchen; often times using her passion of cooking and baking to show her love and gratitude to those she cared for. It was such an integral part of her life. She was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and worked as a secretary at the Youngstown Board of Education, since graduating Rayen High School in 1955. She retired in 1995, when she decided to devote the rest of her life to being an amazing, full-time grandmother. In 2005, she moved with her daughter's family to Houston, Texas where she made many lifelong friendships, became a member of St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, joined the Daughters of the King, and lived out the rest of her days in peace under the hot, southern sun.
She is survived by her daughter and spouse, Grace and Mark Erkman, and their daughters, Nicolette and Kristin Erkman; and her son and his wife, David and Karen Locke, and their children, Declan and Lauren Locke. Faustina was predeceased by both of her parents and her husband, Donald Locke.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Faustina Locke, Friday, February 3rd at 4:00 p.m. at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 14301 Stuebner Airline Rd. Houston, Texas. A reception in the church hall will be held immediately following the service.
Faustina's family wishes for any donations to be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, as it was a disease she battled her entire life.
