Everlyn Elizabeth (Lemm) Benefield went home to be with the Lord on New Year's Day, January 1, 2021 at her home in Crockett, Texas. She was born on February 8, 1922, in Spring, Texas, to Elizabeth (Theiss) and Herman Lemm. On April 6, 1941, she married Eldridge Benefield in Spring, Texas. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Spring, Texas.
Everlyn had many gifts. Among them were the gifts of hospitality and care giving. She was always willing to make a home for nieces, nephews, and grandchildren that needed a little help. She was also a homemaker, working tirelessly to provide meals and a comfortable home for her family while working in a hardware store and later as a clerk in the United States Post Office. She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She always had energy to help them with their homework and to play with them.
Survivors include her son, Roy Benefield and wife Noamia of Portland, Tennessee, her daughter, Deborah Musgrove and husband Ronnie of Crockett, Texas. In addition, Everlyn leaves behind her four grandsons and two granddaughters, five great grandsons, and three great granddaughters, plus a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Everlyn was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Dean William Benefield, her parents, her brother, Wilbert (Sonny) Lemm and her sister, Benita Peoples.
