Obituary

Eula Belle Rickard Koop was born in Kaw City, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of three children born to John Harold Rickard Sr. and Marjorie Grace Ramsey Rickard.

Koop was a force to be reckoned with from her fierce loyalty to God, her family and all of the ones in between that were her "kids''. She was married June 13, 1936 to Harry Koop. The family grew to four with the addition of two sons, Stan Koop and Jere Koop. She was an avid church worker and Cub Scout Leader in Phillips, Texas. The family did not grow again until 18 years later when Karla Koop was born in Dumas, Texas. Still an avid church worker at First Baptist Church, she worked with the youth program providing support through dinners and later as a secretary, mission trip sponsor and mentor. Living 25 miles away from town, she ferried Karla to piano lessons, church choir and church activities on Wednesday nights. After the death of Harry in 1971, she moved to the town of Dumas, where she became the Head Cook for the Dumas Noon Lions Club, Cook for First Baptist Church and Nursery Worker for the same. She is known to many as "Koop'' and over a 15 year period she mentored many that she lovingly thought of as her "kids" in the Youth Choir.

In 2006, she left her home in the Panhandle to live with her daughter in Spring, Texas where she became a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church and became loved by the Solid Rockers Choir. She was a survivor of breast cancer and a stroke.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Koop of Spring, Texas; Daughter-in-Law Nita Hedleston Koop. Grandchildren Chris Koop and wife DeAnna, Carrie Hill and husband David, all of Lubbock, Texas; Great Grandchildren Kit Koop, Karlee Vestal (husband Blake),Kaitlin Martin (husband Bryan), Kamron Koop, Michael Hill (wife Lindsey), Matthew Hill, Joseph Hill (fiance Claudia).
