Eugene W. Miller was born June 26, 1923 to Joseph & Helen Miller in Rochester, New York.  A graduate of Bennington Vermont High School in 1941, he later attended Phoenix Junior College, Purdue University and the University of Colorado, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  While in Phoenix, he enlisted in the United states Marine Corp. in Oct.1942, serving and ending in Aug. 1945 at Platoon Leader's School, preparatory to the Japanese invasion.

He was initially employed as a draftsman with American Bridge Div., USSteel, detailing steel bridge and building structures, including the Chicago State St. Bridge.  Later, in Chicago office, field inspecting and designing steel producing facilities in the Midwest.  Subsequently, Gene served as Engineering Manager in the Los Angeles and Birmingham Plants, and then as Plant Engineer of the Gary Plant, his original location of employment, involved in the Saturn C5 Vehicle Assembly Building, Launch Facilities at Cape Canaveral, Chicago civic Center Bldg., Matterhorn Mountain Disney Land, the San Mateo ordthotropic bridge and much more.

Later as Chief Engineer and Senior Vice President of Mosher Steel in Houston, involvement included the many multi story buildings in Houston, Dallas, NYC and Miami.

As a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois, a licensed Professional Engineer in California, New York State, Vermont, Florida, Alabama, Colorado, and Texas, he retired in 1988.

Gene married Marjean Pitts of Ambia, Indiana in 1946, after a proposal within 15 minutes of their first non scheduled date in 1944.  Together, their happy marriage lasted 64 years, with the passing of Marjean.  Four children ensued, Norman Miller, Douglas Miller, Pamela Miller, and Robin Miller.  Several grand and great-grandchildren carry on the history.

After retirement, with Marjean carrying on with her talented home decorating, fashionable tailoring and sewing, landscaper with expertise gardening, wall papering, home interior and exterior painting expertise with a faith inspired daily living style.

Gene, involved with carpentry of all sorts, picture matting and framing, art work, church choir, including within the Vatican.

Both enjoyed retirement with self driven tours of Mexico, British Isles, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and most of the United States.

Gene passed away in Spring, Texas on October 28, 2019.  He is preceded in death by his adored wife, Marjean Miller; and sons, Douglas Miller, and Norman Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hulbert and husband Chuck, and Robin Dublin; sister, Shirley Earle; grandchildren, Douglas B. Miller and wife Tia Trang-Miller, Melinda Miller and husband Von Dac Nguyen, Sarah Royal and husband Matthew, Benjamin Reagan, Andrew Dublin and wife Jaclyn, Emily Gibbons and husband Stephen, and Sean Dublin; and great-grandchildren, Mya Elizabeth Nguyen, Dean Douglas Miller, Lucas Kai Miller, Lily Royal, Sophia Royal, Olivia Royal, Abigail Royal, Mason Dublin, Max Dublin, Will Gibbons, and Amelia Gibbon.

Gene's remains will join Marjean's at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Dunnington, Indiana.
