Eugene "Gene" Edwin Dorcas was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 21, 1941, and went to be with the Father on September 1, 2022 in The Woodlands, Texas.

In his youth, Gene was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Star Scout. He participated in Explorer Scouts and the Order of the Arrow. His family were active members of Arlington Heights Methodist Church in Fort Worth, TX. He enjoyed electronics, geology, spelunking, and amateur radio.

Prior to joining the Navy in 1961, Gene attended Texas Christian University. He met the love of his life, Sandra "Sandy" Martin, while working at Stationers Distributing Company. Gene and Sandy were married on July 21, 1961 and started their family soon thereafter. The early part of their marriage was spent stationed in Key West, Florida. While in the Navy, his previous experience in electronics helped him achieve 1st in his radio operator class of 200.

After leaving the Navy in 1965, they returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Gene's profession continued in electrical engineering at Texas Instruments. A notable accomplishment of his career was developing the control system for the first self-service gas station while working at Datacon.

Gene liked spending time with his family. He taught his boys about fishing and camping. They were involved in the First Baptist Church Bedford family, enjoying activities such as Sunday school, softball, and basketball.

Later in life, Gene and Sandy were charter members of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. Some of Gene's hobbies included drawing, videography, and photography. He even wrote and produced the family movie "SACROD" starring his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lois Dorcas. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay Dorcas; his sons, Michael E. Dorcas and wife Tammy, and David R. Dorcas and wife Laura; grandchildren, Taylor Dorcas Hammett, Jessika Dorcas Purvis, Zachary Dorcas, Garrett Dorcas, Luke Dorcas, and Wyatt Dorcas; and brother, Philip Dorcas and wife Beth.
