Esther Kahle Best flew away to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2022 peacefully, with her children at her side, at her home in Cape Royale, San Jacinto County, Texas after a long battle with cancer.
She was born December 29, 1930 in Bradford, PA the seventh of nine children of Frederick William Kahle and Florence Olive Everitt. She grew up in Duke Center, PA.
She graduated from Otto Township High School in 1948 and worked at the Duke Center Post Office, The Duke Center Telephone Office and Dresser Industries in Bradford, PA.
She married Charles Eugene Best on June 7, 1953 in the Methodist Church in Duke Center, PA. They lived in Greenville, PA, Chicago, IL, Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, and Coldspring, TX.
Esther was the Membership Secretary and Financial Secretary at Cypress United Methodist Church in Cypress, TX for several years. After retiring, they moved to Coldspring, TX in 1993. She became a member of the Coldspring United Methodist Church and was the Membership Secretary for several years and served as a substitute church secretary when needed. She was the treasurer for Care Share Mission, The food pantry in Coldspring, TX for 14 years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Gene" Best, a son Michael Alan Best (Melody) of Waller, TX, a daughter Cynthia Lee Best of Coldspring, grandchildren, Michelle Ann Farrell, Cayden Best, Shanda Motelet (Nick), Kyle Enloy (Michaela), Jennifer Bingham (Shawn), brother, James Kahle (Barbara) of Palymra, NY, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Margaret Carnes, Eleanor Schwab, brothers, Earl, Thomas, Everitt, Philip, and Ronald Kahle.
