Ernett was born in Portland Jamaica W.I. to parents Aubrey and Elfreda Harris, members of the Maroon community. He graduated from Titchfield High School and the Jamaica School of Agriculture. He also received formal training in the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defense Force. He later migrated to the United States and graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a BSc. and MSc. in Civil Engineer. Ernett worked as a professional engineer with the Texas Department of Transportation since 2000.
Ernett was a tennis professional and coached the PVAMU tennis team, while in graduate school. He was an avid and accomplished ping-pong player. He enjoyed gardening, dominoes, and scrabble with his wife Vinette, of 20 years. He always had a word of wisdom to offer to anyone one who would listen.
Friends, children - Rochelle, Luke and his wife Danielle, Ernett II, Peter, Philip, sister Lorna, brother Roy, nieces, nephews and other relatives and especially granddaughter Gabrielle will miss Ernett. However, for those of us who know the Lord as Savior, we have that hope of a blessed reunion one day.
Psalm 116:15 - Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
