Ernesto Arosa Viray passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 in his home at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his parents, Faustino Areata Viray and Aurea Romero Arosa.
Ernesto was born in the Philippines November 7, 1944. He had a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines and in 1980 he emigrated to the United States and worked for the City of Houston as an inspector in February 1991 and retired as an Assistant Project Manager in November 2003 for the City Housing Department.
Ernesto Viray was married to Shirley Viray (who passed away on December 31, 2020) on May 28, 1977, has one daughter Tiffany Turek married to Kevin Turek and have two grandsons Patrick and Eric, and a 3rd on the way, a granddaughter named Hiraya. He has 3 sisters, as well as 5 brothers. He was the youngest of 8.
Ernie was an honest, kind, compassionate, hardworking, and selfless person. He was a very loving husband and a devoted grandfather. He spent most of his quality time with family, taking care of his grandchildren, playing casino slot machines online, planning for vacations, loved watching The Houston Rockets, Houston Texans Football, all types of game shows, going out to social gatherings with close family and friends. Much like his wife, he especially loved to travel every year to visit all the beautiful places around the world. He was very active in the Houston Northwest Filipino American Community Organization's activities as one of the Board of Directors. He was also an active member of The Knights of Columbus at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church.
A visitation and vigil service will be held on January 18, 2023 at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379. The visitation will be divided into 2 sessions; 4-5pm for Family Time and 6-8pm for public service. A funeral service for Ernesto will be held at 11am on Thursday January 19, 2023 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, followed by reception at the Mcgivney Hall in St. Ignatius Loyola of Catholic Church & burial in Klein Memorial Park on FM 2920 in Tomball, Tx.
