Ernesto Gonzalez Cortes, commonly known as "Don Pedro," age 66, of Houston, TX, went home to be with our Lord in heaven on September 7, 2023. He was born on March 9, 1957 to Jose Gonzalez Alejandre and Esperanza Cortes Cortes in Michoacan Mexico. He was a devoted catholic man who prayed nightly for his family.  Ernesto was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend.
In his teen years Ernesto moved to Chicago, Ill with his family. He attended school where he learned English and also had a part time job at a local restaurant earning income to help contribute to his household. A few years later he joined a music band and would play gigs at weddings, birthday parties, etc. He absolutely enjoyed all genres of music and collected records and cassettes throughout the rest of his years.
Later on Ernesto met the love of his life Maria in 1982 whom he later married and had 4 children with. They decided to move to Houston, TX in 1997 with their first 3 children (Manuel, Janet, & Ernesto Javier Gonzalez) and later had a fourth child in the year 2000 (Javier Gonzalez) who unfortunately passed away.

Ernesto worked very hard to provide for his family working at a family owned meat market. He was very responsible at work and made sure his wife and 3 children always had a roof and food on the table. After years of managing the family business, he and his wife decided to open their own meat market where they both worked very hard day and night. When he became a grandfather he was the happiest he'd ever been and unconditionally loved all of his grandchildren. Although Ernesto was not often seen in the best of humor, deep down inside he was caring and compassionate and always helped those in need. He visited his mother as often as he could and would bring her flowers and food to bring her joy and let her know how much he loved her. Sadly both his mother and son passed away the same year he did. His mother on January 3, 2023, his second youngest son Ernesto Javier 6-months later on June 4, 2023 and Ernesto 3-months after his son on September 7, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Maria, son Manuel and daughter Janet Gonzalez, his 5 grandchildren; 11-year old Christopher Ernesto, 4-year old Jovanny Javier, 3-year old Hailey Sophia, 7-year old Luccas Manuel and 3-year old Isabella Gonzalez, and daughter-in-law Liliana Gonzalez. He was proceeded in death by his parents Jose Gonzalez Alejandre and Esperanza Gonzalez, and two sons Ernesto Javier Gonzalez known as "Tito" and Javier Gonzalez.

Ernesto's family is forever grateful for the life and time that God has given them together. They will miss him dearly, but know they will see him again in heaven. Immediately after the burial service, the family would like to invite everyone to a little gathering at St Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church for a luncheon.

Ernesto González Cortes, comúnmente conocido como "Don Pedro", de 66 años, de Houston, TX, se fue a casa para estar con nuestro Señor en el cielo el 7 de Septiembre del 2023. El nació el 9 de Marzo de 1957 de Jose Gonzalez Alejandre y Esperanza Cortes Cortes en Michoacan Mexico. Era un hombre católico devoto que oraba todas las noches por su familia. Ernesto era un maravilloso esposo, padre, hijo, hermano, primo, sobrino, tío y amigo.

En su adolescencia Ernesto se mudó a Chicago, Illinois con su familia. Asistió a la escuela donde aprendió Inglés y también tenía un trabajo de medio tiempo en un restaurante local obteniendo ingresos para ayudar a contribuir a su hogar. Unos años más tarde se unió a un grupo de música y tocaba en bodas, fiestas de cumpleaños, etc. Disfrutó absolutamente de todos los géneros musicales y coleccionó discos y casetes durante el resto de sus años.

Posteriormente Ernesto conoció al amor de su vida María en 1982 con quien luego se casó y tuvo 4 hijos. Decidieron mudarse a Houston, TX en 1997 con sus primeros 3 hijos (Manuel, Janet y Ernesto Javier González) y luego tuvieron un cuarto hijo en el año 2000 (Javier González) quien lamentablemente falleció.

Ernesto trabajó muy duro para mantener a su familia trabajando en un mercado de carniceria familiar. Era muy responsable en el trabajo y se aseguraba de que su esposa y sus 3 hijos siempre tuvieran un techo y comida en la mesa. Después de años dirigiendo el negocio familiar, él y su esposa decidieron abrir su propio mercado de carniceria donde ambos trabajaron muy duro día y noche. Cuando se convirtió en abuelo, fue más feliz que nunca y amaba incondicionalmente a todos sus nietos. Aunque a menudo Ernesto no se veia del mejor humor, en el fondo era bondadoso y compasivo y siempre ayudaba a los necesitados. Visitaba a su madre tan a menudo como podía y le llevaba flores y comida para alegrarla y hacerle saber cuánto la amaba. Lamentablemente, tanto su madre como su hijo fallecieron el mismo año que él. Su madre el 3 de Enero de 2023, su segundo hijo menor Ernesto Javier 6-meses después el 4 de Junio de 2023 y Ernesto 3-meses después de su hijo el 7 de Septiembre de 2023.

Le sobreviven su esposa Maria, hijo Manuel, y hija Janet Gonzalez, sus 5 nietos; Christopher Ernesto de 11 años, Jovanny Javier de 5 años, Hailey Sophia de 4 años, Luccas Manuel de 7 años, y Isabella González de 3 años, y nuera Liliana Gonzalez. Le precedieron en muerte sus padres Jose Gonzalez Alejandre y Esperanza Gonzalez, y sus dos hijos Ernesto Javier Gonzalez conocido como "Tito" y Javier Gonzalez.
La familia de Ernesto está eternamente agradecida por la vida y el tiempo que Dios les ha dado juntos. Lo extrañarán mucho, pero saben que lo volverán a ver en el cielo. Inmediatamente después del funeral, la familia quisiera invitar a todos a una pequeña reunión en la iglesia católica St Elizabeth Ann para un almuerzo.
