Ernesto R. Dizon, 81, of Houston, Texas, USA, journeyed home to heaven on May 15, 2025 embraced by love and family, and at peace in the comfort of his own home. He was born on February 6, 1944 to Lupe Dizon and Jesusa Rosario Dizon in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines.

He was a graduate of the Class of 1972 School of Nursing at Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation. He was the only male in the class of 78 students. Upon arrival in the USA, his first assignment was in Waco, Texas. After six months, he followed his one true love to Houston, Texas in 1974. He worked as a nurse at Parkway Hospital and three years at Methodist Hospital in the world renowned Texas Medical Center before returning to Parkway Hospital. He was asked to be the Charge Nurse, but he declined. Later on he accepted it for a couple of years and was then promoted to a Nursing Supervisor which he was for 30 years. He was dedicated to serving the wellbeing and welfare of humanity, and he did so for 40 years earning plaques of recognition from management and lifelong respect and friendship from his colleagues.

Ernie was a lifelong learner. Some people would say he was a jack of all trades as there was almost nothing he couldn't do. If he didn't know how to do something, he would teach himself or seek the advice of those who could teach him. He was an active Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation alumnus and attended many university reunions and co-hosted one in Houston, Texas. In addition, he was the founder of Palaris Junior College Alumni Association and initiated their inaugural reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 1968, Ernie met Bella Flores while attending nursing school. As the only male student in the class, he was the only thorn in the garden of roses, but only one rose captured his attention. He followed Bella abroad to Houston, Texas in 1974, where they would call home for the next 50 years. They married at the courthouse January 15, 1975. They loved each other so much, they married a second time on October 25, 1975 in the church. Together, along with their two kids Bernie and Marilee, they traveled across the entire United States, often by driving. They also loved to travel abroad, often with batchmates, friends and relatives. Their commitment to each other is so strong that they married each other a third time in the Holy Land of Cana surrounded by some of their closest friends. This past January 15th, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at home with their children and grandchildren.

Ernie was also an active member of the Pangasinan Women's Club of Texas. Known for their Annual Valentine's Ball, Ernie was First Gentleman to his wife, former President Bella. They loved to sing and dance together, enjoy Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Easter picnics at area parks, celebrate birthdays and holidays, go on vacations together and also fundraise and do medical health fairs in the Philippines.

In 2012, Ernie retired and spent his time traveling, fixing things around the house, fishing both saltwater and freshwater, exercising, playing tennis, and most especially spending time with his wife, kids, and two beautiful, smart, and talented grandchildren, Eva and Abby. He enjoyed target shooting, watching the stock market, and attending church and bible study.

Ernie had many friends and family around the world. He had over 60 nieces and nephews, who adored to call him "Uncle Ernie." He was also honored to have the title of Ninong (Godfather) to his many Godchildren. His children described him as humble, honest, loyal, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, honorable with impeccable kindness to everyone, loved by so many and God fearing. He was the best dad anyone could ever have and a silent hero who helped those in need. He gave so freely and did so with love and no conditions. His actions were truly inspiring, and he was a man of his word. His nieces described him as an exceptionally wonderful person. He was a blessing to everyone who met him and very generous.

Those left to cherish his memories are: Bella Dizon, his beloved wife of 50 golden years, Bernie Dizon, his son, and his wife Gemmalyn Dizon, Marilee Dizon Le, his daughter, and her husband, An Le and sister Araceli Bugarin. His legacy will live on through his precious granddaughters Eva Dizon Le and Annabelle Dizon.

He was preceded in death by: his parents Lupe Dizon and Jesusa Rosario Dizon, his brothers Rodolfo Dizon, Ricardo Dizon Sr., Tony Menor and Perfecto Bacani and his sisters Felomina Bacani, Cecilia Menor and Mila Dizon.

On his grand 80th birthday, the first and last time he asked for a birthday party, he professed:

"We are so lucky that we are living our dreams. It is not an easy journey, but we have that can-do attitude no matter how rough the journey was, no matter what the weather was. Might be raining…thundering…cold, but nothing deters us to accomplish our goals and mission in life. We work hard. We persevere, and we prevail.

I am so blessed that I found solace in the name of Jesus Christ, and in my advanced age it strengthens my belief in my faith and love to God. I am so blessed that I found assurance and salvation in the name of Jesus Christ."
