Those that knew her loved her and called her Cha Cha

From the children:

Ernestine (Cha Cha) was happily married for 54 years to her devoted husband "Alberto".   Alberto passed away in 2012 and that was a heavy loss to not just family but to the so many friends he had.  Cha Cha was hard struck by that blow but they did have a very special life together, from courtship through marriage.  I guess you could say they were smitten with each other from the moment they met during high school.   They did not attend the same high school but somehow God brought them together.  And since then no one could tear them apart.

Mom would sneak away before and after school, driving grandpa's convertible and flying as fast as she could just to see him.  She was even ticketed for speeding and grandpa was not too happy about that.  Then Dad would call on her during lunch recess.  He would fly his motorcycle to Rio Hondo to see her.  When he called the house to speak with Mom they would ask who is calling, to which he would reply "It's Joe Cool and I'd like to speak with Ernestina".   See, his name was Joe Albert.  They would go on to an amazing wedding and life together.

A life that included 5 devoted and very closely bonded children.  Albert, Bob, Ana, Victor and Jay.  Bob passed away in 1995 and that was a tremendous blow.  The heartache was at times insurmountable.

Yet time goes on and our parents were blessed with 5 grandchildren.  Zachary, Caroline, Max, Juliana and Mia.  And soon followed her great-grandchildren.  Jasper, Haley and Mindy.

Mom loved us all so much.  Her love was unwavering.  Her strength was unmatched.  And it was amazing to see how she always kept composure and maintained comfort for others in times of distress.  Somehow Mom and Dad would always appear when her children needed them most, without even being asked.

Mom had no sisters but she did have 3 brothers, of which one remains, Ernest Garza who is with us now.  She did have several sister-in-laws who quickly became great friends, and remained that way even to the day of her passing. Maria Helen, Dora and Betty.  Unfortunately they could not be here due to the current health situation.  But they are watching this celebration of life via Live Stream!  Hello sisters!!

What was mom like?

She was mischievous at times and always ready for a road trip with her kids and grandkids.
She was elegant, beautiful, kind and gentle and most of all she was graceful.  She was a faithful and Godly person.  She was a happy soul and loved everyone she met.  And a smile.. well what a smile!  Her smile unavoidably lingers in your mind forever…. for she was truly beautiful inside and out.

She also liked music and dancing.  Although she couldn't hold a tune to save her life.

We were so grateful to be at her side when she passed.  You will all be comforted in knowing that she passed very peacefully and gently.  She left this place for her final home the very same way she lived her life.  With Grace.

We are all going to miss her so very much.  But we are extremely grateful for the Grace of God to bring her home to be with Dad and Bob.
