Our beloved Eric Glenn Cotton passed away on February 1, 2022, from a recent cancer diagnosis. He was at his home in Tomball, TX, surrounded by loved ones. He touched us all with his love of family, humor, and teaching moments until his passing.

Eric was born January 8, 1963, in Shreveport, LA, to Douglas Glenn Cotton and Linda (Burns) Givens. He grew up in Cypress, TX, and graduated from Cy Fair High School in 1981. He worked as a grocery manager, electrician, and for the past 20 years as a real estate appraiser. He was a business owner with a strong work ethic and integrity.

Spending time with his family and raising his sons, Travis and Tyler, were his greatest joy and accomplishment. They are fine young men. Eric was always teaching us to take care of things on our own. He could fix most anything, and it was always done with perfection. Eric was a realist who kept it real most of the time. We would often joke and tell him he was being too real.

As a kid, he enjoyed spending time with Granny Stone and working on the ranch with his Uncle Jack. He also loved to visit his Granny and Papa's malt shop, the Country Palace. He spoke about the old-fashioned ice cream floats and drive-up canopy in his final days.

Eric enjoyed hanging out by the pool with the family. He was famous for his BBQ ribs and loved sitting in the pool at night to watch the stars. His most cherished moments were when the boys were home together, laughing hysterically at something silly. He had a wonderful sense of humor, bringing joy and laughter to our home and those around him. He was full of dad jokes, which we often said he could only tell on the weekends. Those who knew Eric know that things often turned into a competition no matter what it was. It was all fun, but there was only one winner. Some of his favorite phrases were: "do it right the first time, so you don't have to do it a second time," "suck it up buttercup," "keep your powder dry," and "go do some good."

Those left to honor his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 30 years Sheila Cotton, his sons Travis and Tyler Cotton, his adored niece Taylor Parker, his moma Linda Givens, mom-in-law Joetta Parker, dad and mother-in-law Tom and Jean Parker, Bill Green, brothers Paul (Adrianna) Cotton and Michael Cotton, sister Cindy Richardson and in-law siblings, Todd Parker, Lindsey (Justin) Wright, Lanay Hebert, Hannah Parker, Lily Parker, and many beloved relatives who cherished him.

Eric was preceded in death by his dad Douglas Cotton and his grandparents, David Cotton, Roberta Cotton, Lora Stone, Thurman Stout, Geraldine Parker, his Uncle Jack Stone, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude for those who prayed tirelessly and provided love, support, comfort, and meals. A special thanks to Sheila's work-family for their ongoing support, generosity, and compassion during this incredibly tough time in our lives. Additionally, gratitude is expressed to Travis' coworkers for their empathy, understanding, and kindness.

To say that his family will miss him greatly is an understatement. There will be a huge hole in our family that cannot be replaced. We will cherish the time we had forever – the Family.
